Daniel Darcy is a respected senior leader in the areas of organizational improvement, transformational change, and executive coaching with over 30 years of experience in the consumer packaged goods industry. Recently, Dan established Advantaged Leadership LLC, a coaching and consulting firm working with executives to translate insights into high-impact results.
Throughout his career, Dan has successfully translated corporate strategy into forward action, leveraging global operations as a catalyst to fuel global growth initiatives. His understanding of the cultural and organizational factors necessary for successful change to occur have been a cornerstone of his leadership style.
In addition, Dan is highly collaborative and emphasizes the importance of individual leadership and cross-functional team coherence as major factors in achieving breakthrough results. Dan has extensive experience working across the enterprise with partners in human resources, sales/marketing, R&D, quality, technical, logistics and legal.
He and his team developed and implemented:
- A global operations strategy, including network design, organizational change process, sourcing strategies, capital planning, acquisition assessment/integration to assure continued leadership of the North American market. This advantage led to accelerated progress of the Company’s China/Asia expansion.
- Restructuring of global manufacturing operations, and supply chain transformation, creating a highly advantaged cost structure.
As vice president of global operations strategy and vice president of manufacturing with The Hershey Company, Dan’s relational, collaborative and results-driven approach supported leaders to adapt their organizations and align their processes, ultimately transforming operations to deliver a significant competitive advantage.
For instance, as vice president of manufacturing, Dan led 22 manufacturing facilities (10,000+ employees) across the United States, Canada, Mexico and Brazil. His focus was in the areas of performance and process optimization, continuous improvement and delivery of top-tier results in safety, quality, customer service and cost. Dan also has considerable experience in the areas of regulatory compliance and crisis management.
In addition, Dan was responsible for two major initiatives at The Hershey Company: Global Supply Chain Transformation and Project “Next Century”. Dan and his team were responsible for $800+ million in restructuring investment to deliver $250-$300 million/year in savings which was reinvested to accelerate global business growth. Transforming global operations required significant C-Suite collaboration, organizational change and up-skilling in a complex, high risk/reward environment.
Dan currently lives in Pennsylvania and has lived and worked in Ireland and Canada, engaging cross-functional teams to achieve turn-around results in challenging circumstances. Dan earned his leadership coaching certification from Georgetown University and has also attended the Center for Creative Leadership in Colorado and Darden Business School at the University of Virginia for further leadership studies. Dan holds his MBA from the University of New Haven and is also certified to administer
training in “Sustaining High Performance Team Leadership,” Emotional Intelligence – EQ.i2/360 and MBTI assessments.
